Photo essay:  How we built an eagle’s nest for the Bird Festival

May 27, 2022
Colonel Samuel Samuel Smith Park, Etobicoke

1. Choose an appropriate site.
2.  Layed out long, thick branches.

3.  Started weaving in pliable, thinner sticks like willow.

4. Started adding mud and other insulative material.
5.  Added wet, leafy material inside.
6.  Added dry nesting material and voila, three hours
later, a beautiful replica of an eagle’s nest.

NOTE:  Eagles are threatened by plastic  pollution.  They are harmed when they ingest plastic, mistaking it for food and when they become entangled in it.
